PERMANENT MAKE-UP

BASIC INFORMATION

PMU is the art of permanent eyebrows, eyeliner and lip colouring. Forming a shape based on the golden ratio (Phi 1.618) and facial morphology. Symmetry is determined with the assistance of the Phi App and all treatments are carried out with the use of disposable sterile hygienic equipment. PhiBrows Microblading and PhiContour offer various techniques for the correction of natural imperfections, colour and shape, in accordance with aesthetics criteria. PMU is suitable for anyone over the ages of 18 who wishes to correct or enhance the aesthetics of their eyebrows, lips or eyelids.

PRE TREATMENT PROCESS

For a successful outcome of the treatment, the skin must not be in the process of regeneration. In other words it must not be damaged or recovering from damage.

Prior to the treatment please consult me if you:

  • Suffer from eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, acne or other damage to the skin in the eyebrow region

  • Have problematic skin

  • Have any serious health issues

  • Are on medication

  • Already have permanent makeup

Please avoid the following prior to treatment:

  • Abrasive skin treatments such as chemical, fruit or acid peels, laser treatment, microdermabrasion and similar procedures - 4 weeks prior

  • Botox injections - 4 weeks prior

  • Filler injections - 4 weeks prior

  • Exposure to UV/Sunlight - 1 week prior

  • Fake tan - 1 week prior

  • Beverages containing alcohol, taurine or caffeine - 24 hours prior

TREATMENT PROCESS

The first step is to pre-draw the shape, which will provide a guideline during the treatment, serve to correct any irregularities and enhance facial symmetry. Eyebrow Microblading is performed using sterilised, disposable tools that create micro cuts on the skin while manually inserting pigment into the epidermis. Eyeliner and Lip Contour drawing is performed using a PMU machine, which deposits pigment into the skin. These machines give a very gentle and precise touch to minimise skin injury and create beautiful results. By stretching the skin properly, and applying short swift strokes in the right direction, pigment is deposited into the skin and the desired effect is accomplished. The pigment appears darker during the first 7 days of the treatment, after which, the intensity of the colour decreases by as much as 50%. The patches of skin that do not absorb the right amount of pigment can be corrected at the top up treatment. If the skin is oily or problematic, this process is repeated. Pigment retention depends on many factors including skin type, lifestyle, perspiration, sun exposure, hormonal changes and medication.

POST TREATMENT PROCESS

Proper post-treatment care accounts for 70% of the success of the treatment. It is essential to adhere to the aftercare advice provided until the skin has fully recovered. Otherwise up to 80% of the pigment may be lost.

The successful outcome of the treatment depends on the following:

  • Skin quality

  • Post-treatment care

  • Exposure to various external factors

  • Lifestyle

The following should be avoided 7-14 days after treatment:

  • Swimming

  • Sports

  • Sauna

  • Sunlight / solarium

  • Application of any makeup or cosmetic products to the pigmented area

  • Constant contact with the pigmentation e.g through frequent touching or contact with pets

On the day of your treatment you will be provided with an aftercare package including everything you need to take care of your PMU post-treatment.

Artists do not have control over any of the factors listed above and therefore cannot guarantee the desired outcome of the treatment if aftercare instructions are not followed.

PERMANENT MAKE-UP FAQ

DOES PMU HURT?

Pain is relative to each individual.
Sensitivity will be increased during a females menstrual cycle, so it is not advised to have the procedure during your period.

HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE PIGMENT COLOUR?

Pigment is determined according many factors including the natural complexion and undertone of the skin and also personal preference.

DO I NEED A TOP-UP APPOINTMENT & IF SO, WHEN WILL THIS BE?

Your top-up procedure is done 4-6 weeks after the first treatment, this is an essential part of the treatment.

If the skin is problematic/oily, you may need additional top-ups to achieve your desired result.

WILL I NEED AN ALLERGY TEST?

Yes. All clients will need an allergy test at least 24 hours before the procedure. This will be performed during the consultation.

CAN I HAVE PMU IF I AM PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?

You cannot have the treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

HOW IMPORTANT IS POST-TREATMENT CARE?

Post-treatment care makes 70% of total treatment success. Conscientiously stick and adhere to the given advice, because if you do not, you can lose up to 80% of the pigment.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS OF PMU LAST?

For how long the pigment will be retained mostly depends on the skin oiliness. The oilier the skin is – the shorter pigment retention is. Sweating and sun exposure also affect pigment retention.

On average, expected time until new refreshment of pigment is 1-3 years.

HOW LONG IS THE HEALING TIME?

The skin will be healed after 7-10 days, but it takes between 28-35 days for the skin to fully recover.
Initially, the colour intensity will be darker/brighter and then it will fade to a more natural colour after this time.

IS IT PERMANENT?

The skin type of every client is different and the colour should stay visible in the skin for several years (in some cases indefinitely). The ingredients in the pigment will be present permanently but will not necessarily be visible. Refresh treatments will be required periodically to keep the results looking fresh. This is dependent on age, skin type and chosen colour.

WILL I STILL NEED TO WEAR MAKE-UP?

PMU is an everyday natural look. So if you like to look super glamorous then you may still want to apply make-up but it will give you the perfect everyday base.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Results can be unsuccessful. This can happen for many reasons such as skin type, pre-treatment care, post-treatment care, lifestyle, diet, medication, hormones and many other factors, all of which are out of my control.

  • PMU is an artistic process, not an exact science. Pigment heals and retains itself differently in all individuals and therefore an exact colour or result cannot be guaranteed. Skin types and results vary considerably and clients may require more than two treatments to achieve the desired result.

  • All PMU top-up prices include one session only.

  • I cannot tattoo an area more than 3 times within the period of one year.

  • Deposits are non-refundable and are valid for 3 months only.

  • Your treatment must be booked within 3 months of paying your deposit. An extra £50 booking fee will be charged for every new appointment after this timeframe.

  • I treat every client exactly the same so I do not make exceptions, change prices, offer discounts, refunds or free treatments for unsuccessful results

  • It is extremely important to adhere to the pre/post-care instructions to ensure that you are not vulnerable to infection once you have left the environment of the clinic. If a treated area is touched, picked, pulled or accidentally knocked, not only is it more susceptible to infection, it may also affect the healed result, requiring extra work, for which there will be an extra charge.

  • Your 4-6 week top-up must be booked after your first treatment. This treatment is essential for the finished result. If the 4-6 week top-up is not booked within 12 weeks, significant fading may occur and usual top-up prices will apply.

  • I will discuss the procedure with you during your consultation and you will be given pre/post-care advice verbally and electronically. Your online consultation form will be used for reference and referred to on subsequent visits. All forms must be signed by the client in order to proceed.
